Grow With Epson

Whilst the Epson RC+ Express offers an intuitive, no-code approach, for experienced users it provides extended capabilities using advanced SPEL+ commands. Increasing complex solutions including vision guidance can be created through Epson RC+ Project Link.

All Epson robot systems offer the fast, precise, three-dimensional continuous path (CP) control needed for high-productivity coating and sealant application processes. Advanced linear interpolation, arch interpolation, and free curve motion enable precise effector control, and simple PASS commands can be used to evade obstacles within the workcell space. Programmed paths can reference either a tool-centered control point or an external control point.

A time limit can be set for the completion of effector positioning to enable the next instruction to be executed even if the target point has not been reached. This allows you to maximize your yield by prioritising takt (cycle) time over precision, or vice versa, according to the nature of the work to be done.

Epson Vision System

Epson Vision Guide streamlines precision robotic guidance through its user-friendly, point-and-click interface. Consequently, both configuration and calibration become quick and hassle-free, even for those with minimal technical experience.

A built-in image processing engine makes it easy to align the camera’s field of view with the robot’s coordinate system, eliminating the need for complex programming when performing vision-to-robot calibration.

IntelliFlex Feeding System

The IntelliFlex system offers a highly versatile feeding solution while delivering a streamlined user experience. As a result, it significantly reduces development time for even the most advanced applications, helping manufacturers accelerate deployment and increase efficiency.

Force Sensing

Force Guide empowers Epson robots to accurately detect force across six axes, with sensitivity as fine as 0.001 N. As a result, it provides real-time tactile feedback, enabling precise guidance for high-accuracy parts placement and delicate handling tasks.

Robots equipped with an Epson S250 Series force sensing system can handle high-precision tasks that cannot be safely automated with teaching or machine vision systems alone. As a result, even production processes that previously required experienced workers to handle delicate and easily damaged workpieces can be fully automated.

Robotic Arm

Conveyor Tracking

Epson Conveyor Tracking enables robots to pick parts from either moving or stationary conveyors, using vision or sensors for precise coordination. Identified by the vision system, parts are detected and the robots proceeds to pick up all parts within the field of view. After identifying the parts, the conveyor then moves onto the following indexed position. Used in a variety of industries, such as medical, electrical, Epson Robots are also used to help complete final packaging.

Epson .NET Support (VB Guide & RC+ 7.0 API)

  • .NET Connectivity to 3rd party programming languages
  • Supports MS Visual Studio (C#, C++, VB), Labview and more
  • Works with Integrated EPSON RC+ Debugging Tools
  • Fully Integrated with EPSON Vision Guide
  • Works with Epson RC700, RC180 and RC90 Controllers. *Note: RC700 and RC90 Controllers with RC+ 7.0 use RC+ 7.0 API

Notably, developing an open architecture system requires seamless compatibility with third-party development tools—something Epson has delivered for over a decade through its VB Guide software.

Originally launched with DDE support, VB Guide has evolved through OCX, ActiveX, and now to a fully integrated .NET connectivity toolkit. Consequently, Epson robot users can develop their systems using a wide range of third-party programming environments, including Microsoft Visual Studio and National Instruments LabVIEW.

Moreover, the inclusion of a complete .NET library provides access to thousands of third-party tools, giving users the freedom to choose the ideal solution for their application—quickly, easily, and efficiently.

PLC Function Blocks

Epson PLC Function Blocks enable users to send commands to Epson robot controllers directly from a PLC ladder logic program. These Function Blocks use RC+ Remote Extended I/O to communicate and execute commands within the controllers. Only one robot can be operated by using Function Blocks, it not possible to operate multiple robots and is not compatible with the Epson N-Series.

Robot Controller Option OPC UA Server

Easy configuration using the dedicated software "OPC UA Configurator" reduces the total cost of building a core system.

Epson’s OPC-UA for Robotics is engineered to support smarter manufacturing and more streamlined factory management. Easy to implement, it enables connectivity across the entire production line—including third-party robots—not just Epson models. This allows for simplified, more cost-effective plant oversight, predictive maintenance, and real-time condition monitoring. Fully aligned with the OPC UA Robotics communication standard for Industrial IoT, the system delivers numerous advantages. These include reduced core system development costs thanks to faster, more efficient data handling, improved operational performance through accurate monitoring, and quicker issue resolution via digital twin technology. The solution also strengthens data integrity and traceability through certification and advanced encryption, while offering enhanced defense against denial-of-service (DOS) attacks and unauthorised access. Supporting batch operation for up to 20 units simultaneously, the software ensures open, direct communication between systems—whether PLC-to-PLC, machine-to-machine, or machine-to-IT. It’s versatile enough to be deployed in everything from compact embedded systems to expansive cloud environments.
